I love Willie Mitchell. If you don’t know, he recorded all the Al Green hits you might know and love. I think about music and what makes it good way too much. I’ve come to the conclusion that all great music has one thing in common: The ability to fill the bar with different instruments or samples.. without getting in each other’s way. Listen to good hip hop, cumbia or soul and this formula is always there. Instruments weaving a sound without ever stepping on each other’s toes. And no one did this sexier and with more success than Willie Mitchell. Check out Willie’s Hi records if you’re into 45s and someday sing Al Green’s Simply Beautiful to a girl. She might forget you, but she won’t forget it.
